Kalos Press is an "imprint" that Doulos Resources established in early 2011. (An imprint allows us to publish books that are distinctly different from our titles published under the Doulos Resources name, yet keep them all under the same organization and board.)

We want to enable books of literary fiction, memoir, devotional works, and Christian Reflection to come into print in a similar way that we are actively developing more academic/leadership oriented titles through Doulos Resources. That is the fundamental aim of Kalos Press: to produce books of literary excellence that is outside of the mainstream of Christian publishing.

Kalos Press operates in direct affiliation with Doulos Resources. Our Board of Directors oversees all Kalos Press operations and publications, and one of our Co-Directors, Ed Eubanks, serves as the Publisher for the imprint. David Bedsole, a professor at King College in Tennessee, is serving as the General Editor of Kalos Press, under the oversight of the Doulos Resources leadership.

Thank you for your interest. While we are not actively soliciting manuscripts or proposals for publication, we are always in search of new resources that fit our goals and objectives. If you have a project that you believe conforms to the vision, theological convictions, and goals of Doulos Resources, we would be glad to hear from you informally. Pages is a computer program from Apple for their Macintosh computer systems. It is a nice combination of word processing and page layout, offering most of the tools that the majority of people want and need for each. We offer some resources as Pages templates, so that churches who use Pages may easily customize these documents for their own use and purposes.

We hope to eventually develop the same resources as templates for Microsoft Word, and offer them as editable PDF files. For now, however, we hope the Pages templates will be useful to you.

Covenant Discipleship was written for churches that are member congregations of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA); therefore, it is most suited to a PCA setting. However, Congregations who are members of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church (OPC), the Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC), or the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARP)-- and other similar denominations-- will find that Covenant Discipleship is quite suitable for them without substantial adaptation.

Our desire is to eventually offer unique versions of Covenant Discipleship for OPC, EPC, and ARP congregations, as well as other Reformed and Presbyterian denominations, the Lutheran Church- Missouri Synod (LCMS), and even Reformed Baptists. If you are a pastor or officer in one of those denominations and would be interested in working with us to adjust our material to fit your denomination, please contact us about collaboration.

Doulos is a greek word, used frequently in the New Testament. It means "servant" or "slave," and is how Christ described himself (Matt. 20:28, cf. Mark 10:45) and how Paul described his ministry of apostleship and pastoral work (2 Cor. 4:5). It is also how Christ commands that believers distinguish themselves as His followers (Matthew 23:11, cf. Matt. 35:21).

We dubbed our organization "Doulos" because we want to be servants to the church and Kingdom in what we do. We called it Doulos Resources also because we want to equip others for the work of service to the church and Kingdom (Ephesians 4:12).

Ephesians 4:11-15 says:

It was He [Christ[ who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
Then we will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming. Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ. From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work.

This verse sums up our goal: we want to see God's people reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature.

We do this through what (as v.11 says) God has given us to the church to do: being pastors and teachers. We do it by offering resources that will prepare (or equip, as some translations render it) God's people for works of service. We do it through teaching, that knowledge of Christ will mature, and God's people won't be tossed to and fro by "every wind of teaching" but will know the truth spoken in love.

We believe this is our part of the "work" to be done, as described in v.15. We hope to be a supporting ligament to Christ's church through our service.

The Directors and Board of Doulos Resources are all ordained presbyterian ministers, many in the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), a theologically conservative Reformed denomination. Therefore, we subscribe to the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms. We are deeply committed to Scripture, Covenant theology, the doctrines of salvation by grace alone through faith alone, and worship of Christ as the only Savior-- to God be the glory.

That said, we are not exclusively committed to the PCA, to presbyterian churches, or even to only Reformed churches. Our interest is to serve the church and Kingdom, and we are happy for any opportunity to do so. While we won't lay aside our presbyterian and Reformed identity, we believe that many of our resources may be useful to those outside of our theological and ecclesiastical circles.

One of the advantages of our technological age is the opportunity to focus on niches and points of interest that, in previous generations, would have been overlooked or folded into a broader work. By focusing on the niches, leaders today may offer teaching and instruction at a level that was impossible without individual or small-group contact.

Doulos Resources fits into this category exactly. The resources we offer aren't for everyone, but those who they ARE for will find them particularly well-suited to their needs. Whether it is a curriculum, some other teaching aid, a resource for pastors or other leaders, or specific consulting or advice, we are delighted to have this opportunity to serve the church and Kingdom in specific ways.

Doulos Resources is organized and operated by two pastors: Richard Burguet and Ed Eubanks, Jr. We are incorporated as a nonprofit corporation in the state of Tennessee.

Richard and Ed have worked together in various ministries for over 15 years, and collaborated on many projects. Some of these projects have become the resources that Doulos provides, and are the fruit of their collective decades of experience and wisdom.

Richard is a pastor in central Florida; prior to his service there, Richard has served in ministry in Georgia, Maryland, Mississippi, and South Carolina, and has worked with youth ministry, revitalization, and church planting, in churches small, large, and in-between. To learn more about Richard, visit his bio page.

Ed is a pastor in western Tennessee. Ed has worked with youth and adults, educational ministries, revitalization, and consulting, also in churches of all sizes.
